TTC unveils new, low-floor streetcars

TORONTO – The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) unveiled the first of the city’s new streetcars on Thursday.

TTC Chair and city councilor Karen Stintz and Ontario Minister of Transportation Bob Chiarelli, among others, gathered at the TTC Harvey shop to look at the new vehicles that are expected to hit the rails in 2014.

The streetcars feature many updates, including a low floor which is expected to improve accessibility. They will still feature the classic red fabric seats the TTC has always donned.
