Check out the Chinese rip-off of ‘Mad Max,’ entitled ‘Mad Shelia’

Sometimes other countries take North American blockbusters and craft their own versions, often shamelessly ripping off the original.

Mad Shelia (this could potentially be a misspelling of “Sheila”), an action film out of mainland China, directly lifts the aesthetic, feel and overall premise of Mel Gibson hit Mad Max. We’re not entirely sure what’s going on in the trailer, but there’s something about “real” virgins and a bunch of explosions.

Check out the clip, above, and try to count the similarities to Mad Max and the most recent film in the franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road. They are plentiful.

The movie is scheduled for online release on Nov. 25, 2017.
