A car crash followed by a police-involved standoff in Abbotsford has led to two arrests on Wednesday.
At approximately 7:55 a.m., Abbotsford Police received numerous calls about a truck driving erratically westbound on Highway 1.
It was believed the truck was stolen, and traffic services encountered it earlier in the morning.
As police were responding to driving complaints, the truck crashed into a cement barricade near Sumas Way at Lonzo Road.
Police say the two people inside the truck ran away immediately after the crash and barricaded themselves inside a house in the 1600-block of Riverside Road.
Emergency Response Team and crisis negotiators were called in as the suspects refused to leave the home for two-and-a-half hours.
Eventually, the male suspect left the house with a pistol, which was later determined to be a replica, in his hand.
He dropped the weapon once outside and walked towards officers, but did not comply with their commands, so two Arwen projectile rounds were deployed.
The man was eventually taken into custody.
Police were alerted that a female suspect was still inside the house and was injured in the crash.
She was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and taken into custody.
The two suspects, a 40-year-old man and 34-year-old woman, are now facing several charges, including break and enter.
Fortunately, the residents of the house were not home at the time of the standoff.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
