Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate after man with painted face breaks into woman’s home, fires gun

Police are asking the public for help as they try to track down a man suspected of firing a gun after breaking into a home in Fort McKay, Alta. Sunday night.

RCMP said officers were called to the home at about 11 p.m. after a woman reported an unknown man forced his way into her residence and fired a shot.

Mounties said the man fled the home after and that no injuries were reported.

They also said investigators believe it was a targeted attack and that the public is not at risk.

Police are looking for a suspect with the following description:

  • A white man with his face painted black;
  • 5’9″ to 6’0″ tall, with a slim build;
  • Light green eyes;
  • Wearing black gloves and boots, orange coveralls with reflective stripes running vertical from the waist to the neck.

The RCMP said if anyone sees a person matching that description, they are asked to call police and not to approach the man.

Fort McKay is about 60 kilometres north of Fort McMurray.
