VANCOUVER – Markus Granlund scored in overtime as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Dallas Stars 5-4 on Sunday afternoon at Rogers Arena.

Louis Eriksson, Brandon Sutter, Bo Horvat, and Troy Stetcher also scored for the Canucks (6-9-1), playing their first game home after a dismal six-game road trip that finished 1-5. The Canucks now have two wins in their last 12 games.

Ryan Miller made 17 saves in his ninth start this season.

Patrick Eaves scored twice, while Lauri Korpikoski and Antoine Roussel also scored the Stars (6-6-4), who wrapped up a five-game road trip 2-1-2.

Goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 25 shots for Dallas, which had dominated the Canucks over the years, winning 10 straight meetings.

The game opened with three goals in under a minute, starting with Eaves knocking in a rebound past Miller at 5:43. Horvat tied it 20 seconds later with blazing wrist shot off the shoulder of Lehtonen and in. Korpikoski restored Dallas’ lead after a successful 2-on-1 with Radek Faksa.

The Stars eventually made it 3-1 with just under five minutes left in the second period. Tyler Seguin dished a nice cross-ice pace to Eaves, who one-timed his second of the game.

The Canucks cut the lead four minutes into the second when a Stars turnover allowed Granlund to get the puck to Eriksson in the slot. The struggling forward put it through Lehtonen’s legs for his second of the year.

Sutter tied it on the power play as he found the net from the slot with Lehtonen screened at 6:06 into the third.

A defensive gaffe gave Dallas a 4-3 lead. When the puck deflected off Nikita Tryamkin’s skate and hit Miller’s pad, it popped out right to Roussel’s stick for the tap in with eight minutes remaining.

But again the Canucks tied it up, with Burrows getting the credit for shovelling in a loose puck in the crease. But Dallas successfully challenged on goalie interference and it remained 4-3 for the Stars.

Vancouver got the tying goal with under two minutes to play when Stetcher slapped the puck through Lehtonen’s legs, sending the arena in a frenzy. It was Stetcher’s first in the NHL.
