Police are asking the public to help identify a man allegedly involved in a number of armed robberies across north Edmonton.
The EPS said the alleged crime spree began on Saturday, Oct. 22 at approximately 2:20 p.m. when a report came to police about a man stealing a gun from a sporting goods store near 153 Avenue and 37 Street.
At around 11 p.m., a man approached a person near 162 Avenue and 134 Street, asking for a ride. The man then pulled out a firearm and demanded money before running away with the cash, police said.
The next night at around 8:30 p.m., police got a call about a taxi driver picking up a man near 38 Avenue and 91 Street and driving him to 162 Avenue and 134 Street. When they stopped, the man reportedly pulled out a gun and demanded money before running away with the cash.
The next morning, on Oct. 24, police received a report at about 9:30 a.m. that another taxi driver picked up a man from a restaurant near 161 Avenue and 128 Street and drove him to 164 Avenue and 133 Street. When they stopped, the man pulled out a firearm and demanded money, police said. He then reportedly fled with the cash.
The EPS is releasing photos of the suspect, hoping the public can help identify him. Police say the same suspect is believed to be involved in all four incidents.
“I’d like to remind citizens that tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers, should you wish to remain anonymous,”EPS Det. Wilson Lee said.
“If you know anything about this man, we would like to hear from you.”
Police said the man is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
