Less than a week after slaying Donald Trump at the annual Stand Up for Heroes charity event, Jon Stewart laid into the Republican presidential candidate during an appearance on protege and late-night ally Stephen Colbert‘s The Late Show.
Appearing as part of an elaborate musical skit, Stewart took full advantage of his last opportunity to rip into Trump before election day.

The performance begins with Colbert inviting a child actor from the audience onto stage, who bemoans that she’s too afraid to vote.
After singing about how easy and convenient it actually is to vote (“except in black districts”), Colbert appears to be throwing to commercial break before Stewart’s voice is heard saying “Hold on now, Mr. Stephen Cold Bear” — Stewart then appears himself, rocking a red hat and a sash bearing his name.
Introduced to the audience as “the mayor of Candytown”, the former Daily Show host breaks into a song of his own, although his tune focuses on how “democracy is optional” and people like the little girl shouldn’t be pressured to vote if they don’t feel like it.

Colbert then informs him that Donald Trump is running — which causes Stewart to react by way of spit-take flush in Colbert’s face.
The revelation also prompts Stewart to snap out of character, exclaiming “Are you serious? That angry, tax-and-draft-dodging little orange groundhog is running for president?”
“This ragamuffin is gonna vote, you’re voting buddy! You’re voting,” he says, pointing to the girl.

“But he’s running against Hillary Clinton? Ugh, I can’t tell which one’s worse,” the girl replies, before launching into a somber ballad highlighting the sentiments of Americans disillusioned by the choices on offer:
To add my vote to either side would be an awful lie,
But there’s power in abstaining, sitting out feels justified,
To cave to pressure from the ground to vote just coz they say,
To fall in line and just be cowed, isn’t that the coward’s way?
With Stewart and Colbert seemingly moved by the song, the girl looks to have won the battle of perspectives. “So we’re all agreed. We need to make a statement and sit this one out,” she says triumphantly.
But Broadway actor Javier Muñoz, of Hamilton fame, then rushes the stage and belts out a rap verse urging people to exercise their right to vote, and ending with the line: “So now it’s time, what you gonna do? Coz history has its eyes on you.”

Colbert and Stewart then come to an agreement that “we’re all voting tomorrow”, before launching into one final song about the importance of voting, punctuated by Trump disses such as, “He’s been endorsed by David Duke!” and, “His tiny hands might get a nuke!”
The skit concludes with the duo imploring the audience to vote while surrounded by a cast of diverse characters representing the American populace.
