WATCH ABOVE: Thousands of Toronto residents are getting set to watch the U.S. election unfold at viewing parties across the city. Ashley Carter reports from one in The Annex – Nov 8, 2016

After what has been a bitter – and at times shocking – campaign over the past several months, the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election ends Tuesday as Americans cast their votes for the two major party candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

If you’re interested in following developments throughout the evening, there are many ways to watch the results come in.

Partial list of election viewing parties in Toronto

Democrats Abroad Canada, the official organization for U.S. Democrats in Canada, is hosting the Stronger Together: Election Night Party at Marché Mövenpick Canada (181 Bay St.) from 7:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday. Tickets start at $35.

The Madison Avenue Pub (14 Madison Ave.) is getting into the election spirit by handing out free Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton masks during its USA Decision 2016 viewing party. The pub will be showing coverage while it is open.

The WAYLA Bar and Lounge (996 Queen St. E.) is hosting an End of the World Election Viewing Party with doors opening at 5 p.m. and “tears, name-calling and rigged accusations” at 9 p.m.

The Beaver (1192 Queen St. W.) is encouraging people to “bring your bad hombres, nasty women and basket of deplorables for a night that, hopefully, won’t make us all cry out loud” for the Drop Dead Election results viewing party, which runs between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The Continuing Education Students’ Association of Ryerson and The Eyeopener are hosting Election Night USA! at Ram in the Rye (55 Gould St.) from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, or “until the fate of the world is decided.” There will be prizes, trivia and free popcorn.

The University of Toronto Students’ Union is hosting UTSU Viewing Party: US Elections at the Hart House Arbour Room (7 Hart House Cir.) from 8 p.m. to midnight. You will need a T-Card to enter, but there will be games, prizes and snacks for those attending.
