Sound off: Legion unhappy with knitting circle’s handmade poppies

A group of Fredericton knitters say they’re not going to give up crafting woolen poppies for Remembrance Day.

The knitting circle has raised $700 by selling the handmade poppies and intended to donate the funds to the Royal Canadian Legion.

The legion isn’t entirely happy about that, as the poppy is protected by copyright and can’t be reproduced or used without permission.

The women say they’re going to continue knitting until they’re told to stop.
