Calgary police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit and run on Saturday night.
It happened in the 9200 block of 17 Avenue S.E. just after 11 pm.
Police said a 54-year-old man was walking along the side of 17 Avenue S.E. when he was hit by an eastbound truck. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver did not remain at the scene. Investigators are looking for a black Dodge Ram truck with damage to the front passenger side.
Police say it’s possible the vehicle was stolen.
“We haven’t confirmed that this was a stolen vehicle,” Sgt. Joerg Gottschling said. “However, the black Dodge pickup truck debris matches a vehicle that was stolen earlier that day.”
Conner MacLeod, who lives nearby, said he saw two police officers heading past at a pretty fast rate of speed.
“I was a little concerned, then I saw another two go past not more than 30 seconds later and then maybe a minute later I saw a SWAT van heading up 17 Avenue as well,” MacLeod said.
Anyone with information on the collision is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers.
