With the municipal elections just over a year away, Montreal mayor Denis Coderre scored a big win for his campaign.
Côtes-des-Neiges-NDG borough mayor Russell Copeman announced Friday that he will be running under Équipe Denis Coderre’s banner.
“We’ve been in discussion for some time,” Copeman said. “I’m in sync with the mayor and my colleagues on the executive committee but we thought it was important with an election coming up to announce my colours. I hope to be increasingly involved in Équipe Coderre.”

Copeman’s previous party was Coalition Montréal.
Although he was from a rival camp, Copeman served on the city’s executive committee, responsible for the Urban and Housing Planning portfolio.
Coderre tried to recruit Copeman during the 2013 elections.
