Lethbridge police had a very busy morning with six separate crashes that all happened in the same place.
Just before 8 a.m. police responded to a vehicle that hit a deer while travelling eastbound on Whoop-Up Drive. That first crash led to five more collisions, involving a total of more than 15 vehicles.
Police say the subsequent collisions were caused by drivers failing to slow down when passing the first crash, combined with other drivers making sudden lane changes.
There were no serious injuries.
Police are reminding drivers to slow down to an appropriate, safe speed when approaching a collision or any road hazard. They says drivers need to be aware of their surroundings at all times, ensuring they have adequate time and distance to stop should they encounter an unexpected road hazard ahead.
