Calgary police are investigating a violent attack in the city’s downtown core that left one man with serious injuries.
It happened in the 1000 block of 1 Street S.W. at around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Police said the victim, a man in his 40s, was beaten and stabbed. He was rushed to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

Officers spoke with three men and one woman at the scene but said they gave conflicting statements.
Anyone who may have witnessed the assault is asked to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers.
