The event provided an assortment of free clothes and hygiene items for vulnerable people in the community.

Those who stopped by were also provided with a personal shopper who helped them find what they needed.

In partnership with Boyle Street, the event is made possible by the University of Alberta student group Multiplying Equality. The group collects the clothes through donations that are then given away at the street store.

“I think generally they’re appreciative. A lot of people come to meet their friends as well, so I believe it’s also a socialization aspect for them too,” Multiplying Equality co-president Yuuki Ito said.

“Overall, we see a lot of smiles.”

“If you’re not eating or if you don’t have a place to live or clothes to wear, human beings just can’t function. So by providing clothes, we were able to meet that immediate need,” Ito said.

Ito was expecting around 200 people to attend.
