Fintry Queen saga continues

One deal to sell Kelowna’s Fintry Queen was scuttled over the weekend but another one has apparently been reached.

In the latest surprise move, Andy Schwab, the paddewheeler’s caretaker and court appointed seller, says he’s the new owner.

“Last payment is going out today. It’s just a question of filing the paperwork at this point.”

The Fintry Queen is temporarily moored in Sutherland Bay. Schwab still needs to find a permanent home for it. He’s looking at Penticton, Narmata and Kelowna City Park.

Schwab says it’ll cost at least $250,000 to renovate the ship, get it certified, and build a new dock for it.

He’s thinking of selling shares to the public.

Schwab says the goal is to get the ship back in operation for next summer.
