Memorial for Sheldon Reid, killed in BC plane crash, to be held Wednesday

A funeral for Calgary businessman Sheldon Reid, who was killed in a plane crash in B.C. earlier this month, will be held in Calgary on Wednesday.

Reid, 60, was one of four people killed on Oct. 13 when a Cessna he was travelling in crashed north of Kelowna shortly after takeoff. Former Alberta premier Jim Prentice was among those on board, along with Dr. Ken Gellatly and pilot Jim Kruk.

Reid served in executive roles in various companies in the energy and technology sectors. According to his obituary, his true passion was the capital market.

Reid is survived by his son Dylan, his parents Orme and Shirley Reid, his brothers Doug, Kelly and Vaughn and sisters Lauree, Paula and Nerissa.

The service for Reid will be held at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home at 2 p.m.

A public state memorial for Prentice, meanwhile, will be held at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary at 11 a.m. on Friday.
