Barbara
Kinniewess came home Sunday morning to a gut-wrenching surprise. Her home on Quebec Street had
been gutted by a fire late Saturday evening.
“I just got
home and then I seen the tape and I was wondering what the heck happened,”
Kinniewess said. “And then I got closer and closer and I saw the boards… Then
I got closer and right up to it and it’s like, all of a sudden the house is
burnt.”

Firefighters
got the call Saturday evening around 8 p.m. Area residents said they saw smoke
pouring out of the house. Luckily, no one was home at the time. Kinniewess was
visiting her sister, and the other two occupants, her boyfriend and roommate,
were away as well.
It took
firefighters four hours to put the flames out.
“Crews had a lot of trouble trying to figure
out where the fire was,” said deputy chief Gerard Kay with the Regina Fire
Services. He said the fire spread throughout the house via concealed areas.
Neither
her, nor her boyfriend or roommate were home at the time.
Fire
investigators will begin surveying the site on Monday. At the moment the cause
of the fire is unknown.
