With the scariest day of the year just days away, Halloween costume stores are getting busy.

On top of Calowna Costumes which has called the downtown core home for 30 years, there are four pop-up stores throughout the city.

Kerri Brandel from Calowna Costumes says the pop-up stores do impact her bottom line but she hopes local residents continue to support the long standing business.

“It’s important to us, we’ve been here, we’ve made an impact in the community” says Brandel.

Spirit Halloween is one of the pop-up stores that has opened up shop on Leon Avenue. Owner Cheryl Holmes has come from the Lower Mainland to do some Halloween business in Kelowna. She says Halloween is so huge now that the market is big enough to support all of the retailers. Holmes says she doesn’t want to take away from an established place like Calowna Costumes. “I don’t like that, I hope we can work with each other as opposed to hurting them” says Holmes.
