Authorities have identified the person who was found dead in a Regina house fire last week.

Early on Oct. 5, firefighters responded to a large fire at a home in the 1500 block of McTavish Street. Police were called to assist at around 3:35 a.m.

Fire crews found the body of Ryan Daniel Sugar, 31, inside the house, according to Regina police.

Police said the house was searched as well as well as they could during the fire, given the extreme heat and instability of the structure.

Regina police, Regina Fire and Protective Services, the Office of the Chief Coroner and the provincial Fire Commissioner’s office are investigating Sugar’s death.
