Today

After a long weekend that looked more like Christmas than Thanksgiving, there’s a change in Saskatoon’s weather pattern ahead, despite the snow that’s still on the ground!

-8 is what it felt like this morning with wind chill under light snow as the mercury dipped back to -2.

Snow tapered off mid-morning with mostly cloudy skies expected to stick around for the rest of the day along with a chance of light snow as temperatures rise up to and possibly even a degree above the freezing mark.

Tonight

Clouds will clear out overnight, allowing temperatures to drop back into mid-minus single digits as a high pressure system swings by.

Wednesday

Brace for the coldest morning we’ve seen in half a year tomorrow as wind chill values sink into minus double digits, making it feel like -12 or -13 when you head out the door.

The last time Saskatoon was that cold was exactly six months ago on April 11, when temperatures dipped to -10 with wind chill values down to -13.

After a sunny start to the day tomorrow, a few clouds will pass by as the mercury pushes up above freezing by a few degrees for a daytime high.

Thursday-Friday

Another cooler start is expected on Thursday with a morning low in mid-minus single digits again, but clouds will build back in during the day along with a push of heat, helping warm the city up above freezing into mid-single digits.

As moist air pushes in aloft, there is a chance of precipitation Thursday night, which could start out as some flurries before switching over to rain.

Warm air continues to press in for Friday with a daytime high potentially as high as seven or so as a low pressure system builds into Alberta that’ll bring in a good chance of rain during the day.

The mild air should help melt some of the snow that’s still sitting around the area after last week’s significant snowfall.

Weekend Outlook

Depending on the exact track of the low pressure system passing by we could see some lingering precipitation on Saturday under mostly cloudy skies before another push of moisture and warmth aloft on Sunday may squeeze out some more mixed precipitation to finish the weekend.

Daytime highs both days look like they should be in mid-single digits.
