It seems Okanagan students may have to wait a bit longer for improvements to a popular bus route.
The B.C. Transit bus that brings students from Vernon to UBC-Okanagan in Kelowna is often at maximum capacity.
Overcrowding on the bus in the past few months has translated into uncomfortable conditions on the vehicle and sometimes even students being left behind.
CHBC News first brought the issue up to B.C. Transit last December but since then, it’s been a waiting game for changes to be made.
“I understand council was considering some scheduling changes the other day,” said B.C. Transit COO Mike Davis. “I think they’re looking at funding additional trips. We’re also looking at what we can do in terms of adjusting the time of the trips to make sure we provide as much service as possible.”
“It’s really a pleasure in some ways to have these problems of success instead of failure. But we’re working on it and working together with the councils up there to get better service.”
There are currently only two buses that run along the Vernon to UBC-O route.
