Regina woman killed after vehicle collision involving alleged drunk driver

Regina police say a woman in her late 20s has died after her vehicle was struck by an alleged drunk driver early Saturday morning.

The victim, a passenger of a Kia Spectra, was killed after a Dodge Journey struck the Kia at the intersection of Albert Street and 25th Ave. at around 3 a.m. CT.

Police said the Kia was stopped at a red light facing north as the Dodge, travelling at a high speed, slammed into the rear of the vehicle.

Next to kin has been informed and the victim’s family is choosing not to release her name at this time.

The driver of the Kia was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Brendan Sugar, 28, is charged with five counts including impaired driving causing death.

Regina police said Sugar’s blood alcohol reading was double the legal limit, recorded between 180 – 190 mg.
