KAMLOOPS, B.C. – RCMP have cut the line for affluent drug users in Kamloops, B.C., who were obtaining cocaine by phone order.
The Mounties say they’ve shut down an organized “dial a dope” operation after a complex eight month undercover investigation that included intercepting private text messages.
Police say well-established, employed residents were individually purchasing upwards of $1000 a month of the white powder.
Tips about the deals lead police to form a team of 21 members that included undercover drug officers, surveillance teams and wire tap specialists, starting last February.
Officers say they infiltrated the drug line and made 20 purchases, including one gram of cocaine for $90 and three ounces for $5,000.
Eight men and one woman, ranging from 20 to 40 years old, were arrested in the bust and police have recommended a slew of drug trafficking charges.
