Kelowna pianos played out – Oct 5, 2016

Five of the decorated upright pianos that were placed around Kelowna’s downtown through the Pianos Parks program have to be retired.

Program spokesperson Lisa Brown says the pianos no longer stay in tune after rain warped the keys and swelled the inner workings.

Even though the pianos can’t be played anymore, the city is still hoping to find people who might want them.

It’s suggesting they would make nice planters or outdoor art pieces.

One of the decorated pianos with a Cheshire Cat theme has already found a home.

The Pianos in Parks program is offering up the remaining four damaged instruments for free, including delivery.

Anyone interested is asked to leave a message on the Pianos in Parks Facebook page.
