“This is not a contest, but a request for qualifications,” Monique LaCoste of the Canada Games said. “We are asking artists to submit some examples of their artwork and describe their vision for the medals.”

Submissions are due by Nov. 3. A jury will then determine which artist will be awarded the commission to create the design.

The Games begin July 28 and run until Aug. 13, 2017.
