Christy Clark’s communications director leaves post

Sara MacIntyre, Premier Christy Clark’s director of communications, has left the Premier’s Office for an unknown position with Government Communications and Public Engagement.

MacIntyre, a former press secretary of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, joined the Premier’s Office last February to replace Chris Olsen, who was fired as Clark’s press secretary.

In addition to being Clark’s director of communications, MacIntyre also served as the premier’s interim press secretary until Mike Morton assumed full responsibility of that role.

Shane Mills, the director of issues management in the Premier’s Office, will assume MacIntyre’s duties, The Province was told.

The latest shakeup at the Premier’s Office falls almost exactly three weeks to the day that Clark’s chief of staff, Ken Boessenkool, resigned under a cloud of controversy.

He was replaced by Dan Doyle, a former deputy minister of highways and B.C. Hydro chairman.

Boessenkool, a former adviser to Prime Minister Harper, recruited MacIntyre to work for the B.C. Liberals.

MacIntyre was unavailable for comment.
