The argument then turned violent and the victim was struck several times with a pool cue, which left him unconscious, police said. When police arrived, an officer immediately began CPR.

A witness followed the suspect to a 7-Eleven convenience store and called police. Officers arrested the suspect within minutes of the attack, police said.

The victim was initially on life support, but Tuesday morning a police spokesperson said he passed away.

Justin Leslie Bird, 29, who is also from Saskatchewan, is being held in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Center and was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
