Calgary ranks high on list of traffic congested cities

CALGARY- We’re not the worst, but Calgary has still made the list of the most traffic congested cities in North America.

TomTom- a map and supply company based in Amsterdam- has announced the results of its latest congestion index, measuring traffic troubles in cities between April and June.

Los Angeles topped the list, followed by Vancouver, San Francisco, Montreal and Toronto. Calgary placed 16th overall.

The index is based on real time travel data captured by vehicles driving throughout each city.

It finds that journey times in Calgary are 20 per cent longer during the busy times than in non-peak hours, and is especially bad during the drive home.

During the evening peak, it takes drivers 57 per cent longer to get home.
