Edmonton workshop teaches women about vehicle maintenance

It was a women-only event at a south Edmonton auto repair shop Saturday morning.

Revolution Motors hosted the workshop to educate women on better taking care of their vehicles.

Professional race car driver Kelly Williams hosted two clinics Saturday to help women feel less intimidated about vehicle preventative maintenance.

She showed the group how to do things like check the air filter, understand the braking system, and check and change vehicle fluids.

“Men could definitely benefit from coming to a clinic, but they don’t want to admit they don’t know anything about cars; where as women are so much more open to that and they absorb that information they want to learn about it,” Williams said.

“When it’s just a group of us, and being a female I used to race cars, so it’s just a good dynamic.”

Williams added that knowing basic vehicle maintenance can help catch small issues before they become big and expensive problems.
