NEW YORK, N.Y. – Research firm Gartner says PCs from Lenovo are outselling Hewlett-Packard for the first time, making the Chinese company the world’s biggest maker of PCs.

It’s the only one of the top four PC makers that is seeing an increase in sales, as the global PC market shrank in the third quarter by 8.3 per cent from last year to 87.5 million units.

Lenovo vaulted onto the international scene when it bought IBM’s PC division in 2005.
It’s been the No. 2 PC maker in the world for a few years, behind Hewlett-Packard Co.
