Calgarians celebrate Cultural Capital designation with lip dub music video

Hundreds of smiling Calgarians are shown dancing, roller-skating and cycling in a new YouTube video celebrating the city’s designation as the 2012 Cultural Capital of Canada.

Over 1000 participants converged on Olympic Plaza on September 29th to participate in the taping of a Lip Dub video to the song “Sweet City Woman” by The Stampeders.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The Lip Dub was directed by Mark Bellamy and shot by Joe Media with a steady cam, ATV and crane.

IT was rehearsed throughout the day and then shot in one take.

Organizers say the event was a representation of Calgary’s cultural and ethnic diversity.

Special guests featured in the video include: Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Aldermen Andre Chabot, Druh Farrell, Shane Keating, Richard Pootmans and Gael MacLeod and Calgary Stampeders Jabari Arthur and Matt Walter.
