Quebec-based Nova Bus gets TTC order for up to 153 articulated buses worth $143M

ST. EUSTACHE, Que. – Quebec-based Volvo subsidiary Nova Bus says it has won an order to provide up to 153 articulated buses to the Toronto Transit Commission in a contract worth up to $143 million.

Delivery of the first vehicle is scheduled for next year.

“Being selected to provide Canada’s largest transit authority with the latest generation of articulated vehicles is a tremendous opportunity and another milestone in strengthening our position in North America,” said Nova Bus president and CEO Gilles Dion.

“We look forward to building a long-lasting relationship and providing them with vehicles that contribute to the development of public transit in the Greater Toronto Area.”

The corrosion- and fatigue-resistant stainless steel structure of the LFS Artic bus, as well as its proven track record and overall design were key features for the TTC, Nova said in a statement.

The buses will be built in Saint-Eustache and Saint-Francois-du-Lac, Que.

Since launching production of the LFS Artic, Nova Bus has been awarded contracts in Halifax, Montreal, Niagara Falls, Ont., Saskatoon, New York City and Austin, Texas.
