Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin announced Saturday that he and his teammates will “stand and interlock arms in unity” as the U.S. anthem plays Sunday before they face the Miami Dolphins.

Earlier in the week, Baldwin said he was considering sitting during the anthem ahead of Sunday’s home game as a show of support for Colin Kaepernick.

The 49ers backup quarterback had protested during preseason by not standing during the national anthem in attempt to raise awareness of racial inequality.

“We are a team comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds,” Baldwin said in a video posted to his Twitter feed. “And as a team we have chosen to stand and interlock arms in unity.”

His announcement clarified his plans and concluded Sunday by saying, “progress can and will be made, only if we stand together.”

Four players have opted to kneel during The Star-Spangled Banner in protests against social injustice, with the most recent being Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall Thursday before the NFL season opener.

The protests, which began in the preseason by Kaepernick, could be problematic for the NFL as it plans to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Many have taken Kaepernick’s actions as a protest against the American flag and military but he says it was simply an action to raise awareness of racial inequality.

Former all-star linebacker Ray Lewis is one of those who believes Kaepernick’s actions are a sign of disrespect for the military.

“Listen, I understand what you’re trying to do, but understand, take the flag out of it,” Lewis told CBS Sports. “I have uncles, I’ve got brothers, going into the military, that said, ‘I will never see you again.’”
