All schools in B.C. have been given until the end of the new school year to put new anti-bullying rules in place.
Education Minister Mike Bernier teared up on Thursday when he made the announcement, saying he wishes these policies were in place when his daughter was in school.

Bernier said his daughter came out when she was 19, after she finished high school.
Schools in B.C. will now be required to include specific clauses on gender identity and sexual orientation.
The province says these changes will bring the policies in line with amendments to B.C.’s Human Rights Code that were made back in July.
