It was like they were never, ever, ever together at all.

After a brief three-month relationship, celebrity couple Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have split. People magazine reports that the split was “amicable.”

The couple, nicknamed “Hiddleswift,” caused a celebrity-gossip firestorm when they first showed interest in each other in public, which many outlets report was at May’s Met Gala.

An Instagram video of the pair dancing together went viral, since, at the time, Swift was still dating DJ ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris.

From there, multiple photos leaked as Hiddleston, 35, and Swift, 26, spent more time together.

In mid-June, they went public with a series of pictures on the beach in Rhode Island. Within a matter of a few short weeks, the pair met each other’s parents, celebrated The 4th of July together at Swift’s annual party and enjoyed trips to Australia and Italy, among other places.

“Look, the truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we’re very happy,” Hiddleston told The Hollywood Reporter in July. “That’s the truth. It’s not a publicity stunt.”

Undoubtedly, tongues are wagging about the authenticity of the relationship, given its brevity. Neither star has spoken publicly about the split, though Swift was out and about looking happy on Tuesday.

Swift is reportedly the one who ended it after she protested the British actor’s desire to make the relationship more public. She has multiple famous ex-boyfriends, many of whom she’s written songs about.

Calvin Harris

Swift and Harris enjoyed a 15-month relationship that ended drama-free after sparks reportedly fizzled out between the pair. The music stars were often seen supporting each other at their gigs and during numerous award shows, where Swift once publicly thanked the Scottish DJ for his support.

Harry Styles

Swift and One Directions’s Harry Styles were an item for a stretch of time before the pair split in early 2013. According to April’s Vanity Fair cover story on Swift, the two initially broke up after Styles was (allegedly) photographed “making out” with another woman. A rep for Styles denies this claim.

Conor Kennedy

Entertainment news shows had a field day when Swift was spotted at a Kennedy family function with Conor Kennedy. The couple dated for a few months, but elected to call it quits in late 2012. Friends cited “distance” as being the reason for the split.

Jake Gyllenhaal

Gyllenhaal and Swift had a brief romance a few years back. The Brokeback Mountain star allegedly broke off the relationship via text message. Swift’s monster hit We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is believed to be about Gyllenhaal, and the accompanying video might include a few references to the actor as well.

Taylor Lautner

Swift and her Valentine’s Day co-star Taylor Lautner were an item in late 2009. According to Us Weekly, the relationship fizzled when it became apparent that Lautner was much more into Swift than she was into the Twilight actor. Swift song-crackers are of the belief that the song Back to December is about her oft-shirtless ex.

Lucas Till

X-Men: First Class star Lucas Till began dating Swift shortly after the actor appeared in the video for You Belong With Me. In an interview with MTV, Till explained that the relationship fizzled when it became clear that the two simply liked each other more as just friends.

Joe Jonas

Swift and Jonas dated for a spell in 2008. Swift was dumped by the Jonas Brother over the phone and it wasn’t a lengthy breakup call either. “I’m not even going to remember the boy that broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18,” noted Swift on The Ellen Degeneres Show. “I looked at the call log — it was like 27 seconds. That’s got to be a record.”
