A single mother from Texas decided last-minute to dress up as a man so her son wouldn’t miss a father-son event at his school.
On Sept. 1, Yevette Vasquez of Fort Worth, Tex. wrote that she was dropping her son, Elijah, off at school when she noticed more cars than usual.
When she asked her son what was going on, he told her that it was “Donuts with Dad” day.
“We quickly went back home cause I wasn’t about to let him miss out,” wrote Vasquez in a Facebook post. “I know seeing other dads with [their] kids isn’t easy for mine but it’s life, at least I can do whatever it takes to put a smile on that face.”

In the photos she posted to her page, Vasquez is seen wearing a baseball hat with her hair tucked in, a blue and white plaid short as well as baggy, black pants with a chain hanging off of it. She made sure she had a mustache too.
“I think it’s important to teach our kids to not have any excuses or feel bad for themselves because they don’t have a father or mother,” said Vasquez to NBC affiliate, KXAS News. “I’ve been alone for a while doing it with my kids, but it hasn’t been easy, but it’s a blessing.”
One of the photos shows her son hugging “his dad” with a huge smile on his face.
As of Sept. 6, Vasquez’s post was shared nearly 6,000 times and received more than 16,000 reactions.
