Alberta man killed in Saskatchewan crash

An Alberta man is dead following a single vehicle crash in Saskatchewan.

Police said they received an automated 911 call from the truck involved in the crash on Sunday at around 12:40 p.m. CT.

Emergency crews located the truck down a steep embankment at the west end of a “T” intersection on Highway 255 near Nipawin.

Nipawin RCMP officers said the truck appears to have travelled through a stop sign. It entered the thick woods and came to a rest about 15 metres below the highway in dense bush.

The driver, a 48-year-old man from Sherwood Park, Alta., was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the crash, along with a traffic reconstructionist and the coroner’s office.

Nipawin is approximately 225 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
