He has outlived all 10 of his siblings, along with four wives and all his children. And all 145-year-old Mbah Gotho wants is to die.
According to a news report from Liputan 6 out of Indonesia, Gotho was born on December 31, 1870. That makes him an amazing 145 years old. His life has spanned from the invention of the incandescent light bulb to the internet. He even has the government identification to prove it, and authorities support his claim. If those documents are verified, that would make Gotho not only the oldest known person alive, but the oldest person ever known.
But, he told the reporter, “All I want is to die.”

In May 2016, Guinness World Records named Emma Martina Luigia Morano of Vercelli, Italy the oldest living person; she was born on November 29, 1899 and is 116 years old. In March 2016, Guinness declared Israel Kirstal of Haifa, Israel, a Holocaust survivor, as the oldest living man at 112 years old.

Gotho, who lives in Central Java, has been preparing for death for a long time: he’s had a tombstone ready since 1992.
According to The Independent, Gotho’s health is starting to fail. Over the past three months, he has become weak and has had to be bathed and spoon-fed.
As for the secret to long life. Gotho told Liputan 6, “The recipe was just patience.”
