Hot start to September, but will it stick around for the long weekend?
Saskatoon Forecast
Today
Compared to yesterday’s morning low of 2 degrees, it felt practically balmy up at 7 earlier today.

Mostly cloudy skies started the day before clouds started to clear out and temperatures rose up into the mid-teens by mid-morning.
Yesterday we struggled to hit 20 degrees for a daytime high, today we were there by noon!
Clouds will continue to clear out through the remainder of the day as the mercury pushes up into the mid-20s by later this afternoon.
Tonight
Mostly clear to partly cloudy skies are expected tonight as temperatures drop back to around 11 degrees.
Wednesday
A developing low pressure system will move into Alberta and start pushing heat into Saskatchewan tomorrow.
Winds will be brisk through the day, but with a warm, southerly component to them.
Sustained wind speeds from the southeast will reach 30 km/h with gusts up to 50 km/h into the afternoon.
We’ll see a mix of sun and cloud through the day with temperatures potentially reaching as high as 27 degrees.
Thursday-Friday
As the main low pressure system pushes into northern Saskatchewan later this week, the heat will continue to funnel in.
Daytime highs could even hit 30 degrees Thursday and just shy of 30 for Friday.
As that low pressure system swings into the north, another weaker one will develop and pass by further south on Friday.
The instability looks as though it will be enough to give us a mostly cloudy Thursday before a sunny start to Friday that will be followed by increasing cloudiness and a chance of late day showers or thunderstorms.
Long Weekend Outlook
A cold front will swing through on Saturday and kick up strong winds with a good chance of rain under mostly cloudy skies.
Temperatures will struggle to get into the high teens Saturday and the mid-teens for Sunday and Monday behind the front.
Mostly cloudy skies look like they’ll linger into Sunday before a return to sunshine for Labour Day Monday.
There is some model discrepancy with the strength, affects and exact timing of this system, so we will keep an eye on the situation and bring you the latest updates as the date approaches.
