Police have charged a 14-year-old boy after he allegedly avoided a R.I.D.E. spot check and led police on a brief high-speed pursuit through a residential area in Bradford, Ont.
South Simcoe Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check on Disette Street around 3 a.m. Tuesday when an approaching car made an immediate U-turn.
Police said the driver turned off the vehicle’s headlights and led officers through a residential area.

A police spokesperson told Global News the car went through a stop sign travelling around 80 km/h and almost struck another car.
Officers apprehended two Bradford teens who were in the vehicle.
The boy driving the car, who cannot be identified due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with dangerous driving, flight from police and driving a motor vehicle without a licence.
He is scheduled to appear at court in December.
