A Lumby home was completely gutted by flames on Monday afternoon.
It was just after 1 p.m. that fire officials responded to the scene to find a fully involved home on Mabel Lake Road.
Three people were inside at the time of the fire, but they did manage to get out safely.
Officials said there’s no reason to think the fire is suspicious; an investigation is underway.
There were also some animals inside the structure including a couple of dogs and a couple of cats. While the dogs were rescued, the cats are still unaccounted for, but the homeowners are hoping they’re outside.
The owners had just purchased it a few weeks ago, and officials said as far as they know, they do have insurance.
The Lavington Fire Department was called in to assist the Lumby Fire Department.
