Feedback opens on review to reduce number of Saskatchewan health regions

People and organizations can now start providing feedback on the possible restructuring of Saskatchewan health regions.

Starting Monday, online written submissions can be made to the three-person panel that was appointed to look at the current health region structure.

“Our panel wants to support a robust and open dialogue with key partners and stakeholders throughout this process,” said Dr. Dennis Kendel, one of the panel members.

“The panel wants to ensure the patient is at the centre of a redefined system, which will be structured and governed to best support and improve patient care.”

The panel will look at how services could be delivered more efficiently and effectively in the province.

“Restructuring the health system is an extremely complex process,” said Brenda Abrametz, who also sits on the panel.

“The panel welcomes opinions from different perspectives to enhance our abilities to make informed recommendations to the government.”

The panel is also tasked with examining health board governance and accountability and to identify ways to enhance the measurement of health system performance.

Anyone looking to make a submission has until Sept. 26 to do so.
