A fire that started on an apartment balcony caused an estimated $10,000 worth of damage in Saskatoon on Saturday.
At around 9:30 a.m. CT, members of the Saskatoon Fire Department were called to a structure fire at 512 4th Ave. North. One caller reported a barbecue on the second-story balcony started the blaze and flames were touching the balcony above.

Light smoke was spotted when fire crews arrived and the building was ordered evacuated.
Meanwhile, firefighters attacked the flames using foam due to the cedar construction of the balconies. They had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.
A thermal imaging camera was used to ensure the fire had not extended to any apartment suites.
An investigator determined the cause of the fire to be accidental in nature. The fire department is reminding the public to remember to shut off burners after cooking on barbecues.
No injuries were reported.
