Saskatoon’s Friendship Inn is hoping backyard gardeners overwhelmed with a large harvest of vegetables will make a donation.
Officials said they can use the produce for their daily meal service and anything extra can be given out to guests to take home.

It not only helps with the immediate need, but also allows volunteers to get ready for winter.
“There are lots of fresh fruits and vegetables that can be frozen,” explained Sandra Stack, the executive director of the Friendship Inn.
“We’re making jams, we’re making syrups with our berries, so there are lots of things that we can do to prepare for the winter.”
No preparation is needed before dropping off any produce, but the Inn prefers dirty potatoes as they last longer that way.
Anyone looking to make a donation can drop off produce at the southwest door of the parking lot located at 619 20th St. West daily between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. local time.
