A woman and child were injured Saturday afternoon by an off-highway vehicle (OHV) in an incident five kilometers south of Water Valley.

The mother and daughter were bystanders while the operator of an OHV tried to pull a side by side free after it got stuck in some mud, RCMP said in a release Saturday.

The operator lost control of the vehicle and struck the pair.

STARS Air Ambulance was called as a precautionary measure. Both the 41-year-old mother and her 12-year-old daughter were taken to hospital in Calgary with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP continue to investigate; so far no charges have been laid.
