UPDATE: 50-year-old man dies after motorcycle crash in southern Alberta

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash east of Vulcan, Alta. near Highway 842 and Highway 534 at around 10 a.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, paramedics found a damaged motorcycle in a ditch.

EMS said the motorcycle had one rider on it at the time of the accident, a man believed to be in his 50s.

The man was taken to the Vulcan Community Health Centre in critical, life-threatening condition.

RCMP said the man died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

Paramedics said he suffered a variety of traumatic and internal injuries.

There is no word yet on what led to the crash.

EMS has not released the name of the man killed.

RCMP continue to investigate.
