Regular traffic operations resume for Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle border

MONTREAL – U.S. Customs and Border Protection is confirming that the Champlain/Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle border has resumed normal traffic operations.

The Public Affairs Officer for the CBP Kris Grogan released this statement through email regarding the situation:

Earlier today at the Port of Champlain, a bottle containing suspected illegal narcotics leaked during seizure processing. The area of leak was evacuated as a precaution. Clinton County Emergency Services HAZMAT arrived to clean up the site. Traffic was diverted to cargo lanes as the HAZMAT team cleaned the site of the leakage. 

HAZMAT officials have completed the clean-up of the site.  Normal traffic operations have resumed at the Port of Champlain.

It is unclear when the incident took place.
