A fire in Bowness caused traffic trouble on Friday afternoon
The blaze broke out around 4 p.m. in a vehicle parked behind a home in the 4300 block of Bowness Road N.W. It then spread to another car, a fence, then a neighbouring two-storey rooming house.

When fire crews arrived there were smoke and flames, so they called in a second alarm.
Everyone managed to get our safely, but damage to the home was extensive.
The blaze led to gridlock on Bowness Road and parts of the Trans-Canada highway, with crews having to shut down part of Bowness Road for about two hours.
So far there is no damage estimate.
