BRANTFORD, Ont. – A man is dead after a vehicle slammed into a tree overnight in Brantford, Ont.
Ontario Provincial Police say an officer on patrol at around 1 a.m. located a car that had been split into two (on Newport Road).

The OPP later determined that the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn, went into a ditch and struck the tree.
The force of the impact split the vehicle in half, with one part ending up in a nearby field.
The male driver was pronounced dead on scene.
His name and age have not yet been released.
