The Lethbridge Regional Police Service along with Accident Support Services International has officially opened its new Collision Reporting Centre.
The CRC is the first of its kind in Alberta, and organizers say Lethbridge is good for the year long pilot project due to the forward thinking LRPS.
The Police Service hopes the new centre will free up officers to deal with other pressing issues, and make the claims process faster for drivers.

The service will not cost anything for the LRPS or local taxpayers; all funding comes from supporting insurance companies.
The way collisions are reported will not change, but police will still be called to assist if it involves injuries, dangerous goods or criminal offences are involved.
The addition of the CRC will free up about 4,600 hours of police officer time and 1,950 hours of support staff time each year.
If vehicles are moveable, citizens will drive to the Centre to complete the report. If it can’t be driven, tow trucks will transport the parties involved to the CRC.
The Lethbridge Collision Reporting Centre is located in the lobby of the police station and is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed Sundays.
